The name of Cala Ratjada comes from a popular fisherman´s catch of the XIX Century: the ratjada (ray). The port of Cala Ratjada is still active and the town has every service as well as a rich gastronomical offer, to give everyone a perfect visit.
The Castle of Capdepera attracts many visitors each year. This medieval fortress from the XIV Century, its built on the top of a hill and offers panoramic views of all the area. This castle showcases Mallorca´s rich history and brings the opportunity to explore the old walls, towers and courtyards.
Another place of interest is the Torre of Canyamel, a defence tower that was built in the XIII Century to protect the coast from pirate attacks. Located close to Cala Ratjada, this historical tower serves as reminder of the strategic importance of this area and offers, as well, wonderful panoramic views.
The Caves of Arta are another cultural treasure of Cala Ratjada. These subterranean caves were discovered in the XIX Century and are a natural spectacle. As you explore the caves, you dive into a world of stalagmites and stalactites, rock formations and underwater chambers from millions of years ago. The Caves are used also for concerts and cultural events.
To those who have an interest in local tradition and history, the Museum of Palm Weaving is worth visiting (located inside the Castle of Capdepera). This museum is dedicated to the palm weaving industry, a natural fibre from the local palm bush that was vastly used in the crafting of traditional baskets and hats. OUR HISTORY
Discover Petit Hotel Ses Rotges, a hotel that keep its traditional essence. Your hotel in Cala Ratjada.
Ses Rotges has been managed by the Tétard family since 1974. The hotel is located in Cala Ratjada, in the Northeast of Mallorca, just 500 m to the nearby beach of Son Moll. It is an urban oasis where to disconnect.
The hotel is built over the structure of a possessió (a traditional mallorquinian building), where the kitchen and the patio take central stage. This building was the second house that was built in the town of Cala Ratjada. It is an ideal place for holidays and weekend getaways.
HISTORY
Our hotel is built upon a finca from the XIX Century. It was the second house build in Cala Ratjada. Keeping the traditional essence is something we are known for. The architecture blends modern with traditional styles, creating a cosy and relaxing atmosphere. It is a unique hotel, able to bring you a sense of serenity and tranquillity as you step into it.
Gérard and Laurence Tétard In march 1974 the Petit Hotel Ses Rotges opened its doors under the management of the Tétard family. In 1977, the Restaurant of Hotel Ses Rotges was awarded a Michelin star, becoming the first place in the Island of Mallorca to received such recognition. Ses Rotges soon becomes a gastronomic reference in the local and regional area. In 2005, after 28 years of having the Michelin star, Gérard and Laurence Tétard decided to return the award in order to facilitate the generational transition of the business.
William Tétard William, the Hotel manager, has dedicated all his professional expertise to continue the family tradition. In 2018 it is decided that he will be the one to continue the tradition started by his parents. He brings a fresh new vision.

The restaurant Ses Rotges (1974-2022) was the first establishment in Mallorca to obtain a Michelin Star, thanks to the hard work of Gérard and Laurence Tétard, leaving an imprint of talent and dedication. William Tétard has taken the generational baton and has sustained the legacy of his parents adding his personal touch and creativity. Our commitment with culinary craft and the attention to detail has placed us as a reference on the island of Mallorca.
